Seaport Area

The Seaport Area is the new promise of South Boston. The Area is home to the Moakley Courthouse, The Institute of Contemporary Art, The Convention Center, World Trade Center, and much more. The Seaport is also home to future development of retail, restaurant, and residential properties. The future development of the Seaport will define South Boston and make it a destination point for many visitors and local residents.

There is no other place in South Boston like the Seaport Area or Boston for that matter. There is a tremendous amount of land that is available for development. Commercial real estate in the area is abundant. Future plans include an expanded cruise area, shops, restaurants, as well as commercial business ventures. The area that surrounds the Seaport Hotel and Seaport World Trade Center is destined for the greatest development. Plans for high end residential and retail centers are in the making for the near future. Ground breaking is to begin in 2008.

On December 10, the Institute of Contemporary Art unveiled its new home on Boston's waterfront.

The new Institute of Contemporary Art has just opened and is a prize for the area, drawing a large tourist crowd. The building itself is architecturally and visually an eye catching site.

The new John Joseph Moakley CourtHouse boasts 24 courtrooms and has rejuvenated the Seaport District. The Fan Pier and Fort Point Channel are also in this new prestigious and up and coming area. This area is likely to be the next big thing to happen to Boston with many saying it will become a tourist attraction much like Back Bay and Newbury Street.
